Abstract
The author seeks to expand the treatment of couples struggling with sexual addiction using Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT) after reviewing the literature and currenttreatment trends for sexual addiction are reviewed and critiqued. The authorseeks to analyze the role that sexual addiction plays in the life of couples,including diagnosis, intervention, and treatment, including the history and controversy sexual addiction has within the treatment community and society. Addressing the ethical, diversity and humans rights issues, the author seeks toexplore the complexity of treating sexual addiction in couples. Identifyingpersonal limitations the author shows the ability to wrestle in ethical waysover treating people with sexual addiction and maintain a practice thatincorporates the client’s needs above its own. The expanding of co-joint EFT for treating couples suffering from discovered sexual addiction by one or bothpartners is founded and conceptualized by relevant and peer reviewed references.
